About Linear BJJ
Linear BJJ is an AI training journal and coach for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. You talk through class for a few minutes on the drive home; it turns that into structured journal entries, remembers your game over time, and helps you walk into the next session with one clear focus.
Why this exists
Jiu-jitsu has a retention problem. You drill a detail on Tuesday that genuinely changes your half guard — and by Saturday it's gone, buried under two more classes and a hard week. Notebooks and note apps don't survive contact with a sweaty gym bag: the entry form is empty, you're tired, and structuring your own notes after training is exactly the kind of homework nobody keeps doing.
Linear BJJ flips the order. You give it the rough outline — out loud, in whatever order it comes back to you — and the AI does the organizing: what you drilled, what worked in rounds, what kept failing, and what to focus on next. Over months that becomes something no notebook gives you: a searchable memory of your whole game, and a coach that has actually been paying attention to it.
Who's behind it
Will McLellarn
Founder
Will builds Linear BJJ end to end — the mobile and web apps, the AI coaching stack, and the private-lessons instructor directory. Linear BJJ is an independent product: no growth team, no content farm, just a builder who wanted the training journal that didn't exist.
What we're building
- A journal that writes itself. Voice-first capture after class, structured entries out — see the BJJ training journal use case.
- A coach with memory. Chat and real-time voice coaching grounded in your own training history — see the AI BJJ coach use case.
- A fair way to find private coaching. The private-lessons directory lists instructor profiles with credentials and direct contact — no booking fees, no commission.
